Please feel free to email about anything that comes to mind. Please delete the DELETETHIS part of the email address before sending, it's my way of getting round spam.

Also please don't change the subject line, your mail WILL be deleted unless the subject contains "Verified Email from Recess.co.uk"

Finally, if I get emails that are written like a text message ("Hi lik yr site, gr8 stf" etc) I'll just delete them, sorry - but I've taken 6 years to write this site. If you can't take 6 seconds to type like normal, I'll just delete you.

If you're mailing from something like Hotmail, copy and paste the link into the address field, take off the 'mailto:' part, and move the ?subject=Verified email from Recess.co.uk section to the subject field. TA!

Of course, there's still the message board where either myself, or someone like Woody will pick it up for you.

I do try to answer all emails I get, but be patient! It may take me a couple of days to get through them all.

At the bottom of this page, there's some notes about things I'd prefer you NOT to ask. It's not an ogre thing, it's things that I don't know how to answer, you'd be wasting your time asking.

If you're about to send me a mail asking me what equipment to buy, please read the reviews page first (click it). Can I also urge you to read the FAQ page too?

Thanks for reading this part. I don't want to come off as an unhelpful wanker, but there's a couple of things that people keep asking me that dispirit me;

Firstly, I don't know much about scratching, the only reason that page is up there is because I was asked for it so much. Nearly all the information has been lifted from the sites that I link to on that page - if there's anything you want to know about scratching, get in touch with those guys. I'm just going to re-direct you if you ask me anyway!!

Secondly, PLEASE don't ask me what records you should buy. How am I supposed to know what floats your boat musically? Get the stuff that, when you listen to it, makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. The stuff that made you want to be a Dj in the first place. The stuff that's in your heart - not just stuff that you think other people might like.

Third, if you're asking me about equipment, then can I ask not just to put "what should I get?" as the question? Put in a couple of things, like how much money you have to spend, what kind of music you're planning on mixing, what format you're looking to get (if you don't know, then check my CD vs Vinyl page). Just a little to help me out. I don't like making blind judgments about what to go out and buy. If I just get a "what should I get?" mail, I normally go into "Sarcasm Man" and say 2 Technics and a Pioneer DJM500 mixer.

Lastly, there's the subject of white labels (promotional records). Why don't people want to pay for their tunes anymore? Actually, I realise that a lot of the people who write to me about getting these are actually genuinely in need of them due to working in clubs, but the truth is, I'm as blank of the knowledge of getting them as you are. My only experience with truly free records have been from club promoters themselves, who obviously get them sent out, then passed them on to me. I've not personally been on a mailing list, so there-fore can't help you out either. The best thing to do is try the subscription services like Promo Only, yes, I know they charge a rate, but the money you spend on them is tax deductible (and if that doesn't come in to play, then I doubt you're a Dj of the level that needs promo's anyway - or you get paid under the table, in which case, you can afford to buy stuff with the money you're not paying in taxes!!!) Go to PromoOnly's web site to see what they have to offer (available in the States and in the UK).

Thanks for reading this part again, and I look forward to reading the mail you're about to post to me. Talk to you soon.
